FORTIFIED Designation Services

HDMK Inspection Services provides FORTIFIED designation services for homeowners and contractors in the Greater New Orleans (GNO) and Greater Baton Rouge (GBR) areas. The FORTIFIED program, developed by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), strengthens a home's resilience against severe weather and qualifies homeowners for significant insurance premium discounts

FORTIFIED Roof (formerly Bronze)

The most common, entry-level designation, especially for roof replacements and retrofits. Focuses exclusively on strengthening the roof system to prevent wind and water intrusion. Includes sealed roof decks, enhanced nailing patterns, stronger edge protection, and verified installation. Most Louisiana insurers offer premium discounts for this designation. Typical investment: $600 for existing homes (Preferred Contractor rate: $500) or $750 for new construction.

FORTIFIED Silver

Requires a continuous load path (CLP) from the roof to the exterior walls. Also requires impact-rated doors, windows, and garage doors to improve protection against structural uplift and flying debris. Aimed at homeowners who want comprehensive storm protection beyond the roof level. Typical investment: $1,000.

FORTIFIED Gold

Extends the load path all the way down to the foundation, offering full structural continuity and the highest level of storm resilience. Typically only achievable in new construction. Requires all Silver requirements plus continuous load path from roof to foundation. Typical investment: $1,500.

Wind Mitigation Inspections

A standalone wind mitigation inspection documents your home's construction features (roof shape, roof covering, roof deck attachment, roof-wall connections, openings protection, and building code) to help you qualify for wind insurance credits. Standalone: $300. Bundled with a FORTIFIED inspection: $150.
